Privacy Statement

Buxton Photographic Club needs to collect and use information about individual members in order to administer the Club and keep members informed about Club activities.

The information collected is as follows:

  1. Name & Title
  2. Email address
  3. Postal address
  4. Telephone number/s
  5. Membership Type
  6. Photographic distinctions/qualifications
  7. Membership fees paid

Selected images may be held by the Club for use in Club publications, on the website and to represent the Club in external competitions.

The information is collected from the membership application form where the applicant is required to give their informed consent for it to be collected and stored. All members have the right to access the information that the club holds about them. It will be held whilst the person continues to be a member of the club and will be deleted within 1 year of membership ending.

The Club will not share personal information, other than name and any distinctions, with any outside organisation except with the member's explicit permission.

This information is stored on computer by the nominated Data Protection Officer.

Data is managed in line with the 8 data protection principles outlined in Schedule 1 to the Data Protection Act. ie:

  1. Personal data shall be processed fairly and lawfully.
  2. Personal data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose or those purposes.
  3. Personal data shall be adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purpose or purposes for which they are processed.
  4. Personal data shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date.
  5. Personal data processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes.
  6. Personal data shall be processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects under this Act.
  7. Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.
  8. Personal data shall not be transferred to any country, territory or company outside the UK.
